One Hundred people, many of them seeking religious freedom in the New World, set sail from England on the Mayflower in September 1620. It was the pilgrims, to whom the founding of America is generally credited.
Col. Douglas T. Peck who, in 1990, used the log of Juan Ponce de Leon to retrace the 1513 voyage of the Discovery of Florida. Mr. Peck's voyage corrects history and proves that Juan Ponce de Leon landed in Melbourne Beach, Florida, not St Augustine.
Beginning in 2010 ,I had the privilege of sitting on the planning committee and board for the Quin-centennial anniversary of Florida's founding with the UTB, United Third Bridge, Inc., the Royal Order of Juan Ponce de Leon and the Florida Puerto Rican/Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; who after 12 years of efforts were finally able to show the world that Melbourne Beach was rightfully the "First Landing". In essence shifting the first landing in America to Melbourne Beach and Present Day Brevard County. It was a very eye opening experience for me.
In 2013 Florida celebrated the Quin-centennial anniversary and erected a 10 foot tall statue of Juan Ponce de Leon at the Juan Ponce de Leon landing park in Melbourne Beach, FL formally identifying Melbourne Beach as the site of the First Landing.
Beyond the fanfare and recognition...as well as fame for the event, (and what was not discussed during my tenure on the board and its committee) -- It is important to note that he was a conquistador (conqueror) who first explored many parts of Florida and in search of the mythical fountain of youth.
While the pilgrims came seeking religious freedom, de Leon came in search of the fountain of youth, conquest and gold. There was no cross erected, no Covenant made with God for the New World, only conquest and the pursuit of fame and riches.
This is significant because of the Holy Shift occurring now and the many forerunner prophecies released over Florida.
Thanksgiving Day, 2011: I stood on the beach at the landing site and repented for America, walked up the beach and re-claimed the lands for God and His Kingdom. I tried to get some people at the church I was attending to join me that day but I just got the deer in the headlight look from all of them and the polite nod from many, knowing they thought I was crazy and some wild childish young christian with delusions of grandeur who needed to get his head out of heaven.
It wasn't long ago that I asked the Lord why the burden of the region came and why I just have felt like I couldn't leave Florida yet. He answered very clearly, because of what you did the day on the beach for Me. To be honest I completely forgot about that morning until I heard the Lord remind me of it. I think that was when I first came to an understanding of the reality of what God had been talking about regarding the region.
So when when I use the term Holy Shift about the region here, I am reminded of 1 Corinthians 15:46 ~But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual.
